Which Thule Awning for Your Motorhome?
Thule's Omnistor range is superb, but with several models to choose from it is easy to wonder which is right for your motorhome. The good news is that the choice comes down to just two questions: does it mount to the wall or the roof, and how big is your van? Here is a plain-English tour of the range.
As a family-run Thule specialist, we match motorhomes to the right awning every day.

First, wall or roof?
Every Thule motorhome awning is either wall-mounted (fixed to the side of the van) or roof-mounted (fixed on top). Most motorhomes take a wall-mounted awning; roof-mounted is the answer when side-wall space is limited. If you are unsure which suits your van, see our Wall-Mounted vs Roof-Mounted guide or just ask us.
The wall-mounted models
Thule Omnistor 4200 A lighter, neatly engineered wall-mounted awning that replaced the older 4900. A great choice for smaller and mid-size motorhomes and camper conversions.
Thule Omnistor 5200 One of the most popular motorhome awnings, suited to mid to large vans. Available with an optional electric motor if you want one-touch operation.
Thule Omnistor 8000 A large-format wall-mounted awning designed for bigger motorhomes that need more length and projection. Also available motorised.
(For reference, the 3200 is aimed at minivans and SUVs, and the 5102 is a camper-only awning - so for most motorhomes the 4200, 5200 and 8000 are the ones to look at.)
The roof-mounted models
Thule Omnistor 6300 The go-to roof-mounted awning (it replaced the 6200 range), recommended for motorhomes, caravans and campers. Ideal when you want to keep the side wall clear.
Thule Omnistor 9200 A premium roof-mounted awning built for larger motorhomes, available with an electric motor.
A quick way to narrow it down
Smaller or mid-size motorhome, wall mount: Thule Omnistor 4200 or 5200
Large motorhome, wall mount: Thule Omnistor 8000 (or a motorised 5200)
Limited wall space, roof mount: Thule Omnistor 6300
Large motorhome, roof mount: Thule Omnistor 9200
Whichever model you choose, sizes run from around 1.95m up to 6m, with projections up to 2.5m, so there is a fit for your van, and every awning is covered by the comprehensive Thule two-year warranty.
Don't forget the adapter
Wall-mounted awnings come with a standard flat adapter; roof-mounted awnings and many specific motorhomes need a model-specific bracket. We stock a large range of motorhome awning adapters developed with, and approved by, the manufacturers, so there is a correct fit for your van.
